Here's what a finished video looks like

The video below was made with the generator above — type a script, let language mixing kick in word by word, generate the voice-over, export. All in the browser.

Exported from the generator on this page

  • Word-by-word highlight that follows the voice
  • Word-level timestamps, so the cursor never drifts
  • Vertical MP4 exported right in the browser

Make a Cantonese-English video in three steps

No editing software, no script writing — a finished 30–40s clip right in your browser.

  1. 01

Paste written Cantonese, or let AI write it

Paste your own written-Cantonese sentences, or just give a topic — in Mandarin, English or any language you're comfortable with — and AI writes the script in written Cantonese.

  2. 02

Pick the words that become English

AI marks candidate words and you confirm one by one. Function words (嘅、咗、係) stay — only content words swap, which is exactly how Hong Kong code-switching sounds.

  3. 03

    Voice it, export MP4

The Cantonese dialect engine voices it, every frame aligns to word-level timestamps, and you export a vertical MP4 ready for TikTok or Instagram Reels.

Written Cantonese isn't translated Mandarin

Machine-translate a Mandarin script into Cantonese and native speakers can tell instantly. The prompts here are written for written Cantonese: vocabulary, particles and word order are Cantonese's own. Four comparisons to feel the difference.

FAQ

The most-asked questions about written Cantonese, the Cantonese voice and exports.

Does it have to be written Cantonese? Can I paste Mandarin?

Whatever you paste is what gets voiced. Written Cantonese (嘅、咗、喺) sounds most natural — the engine pronounces each Cantonese character. Paste Mandarin and you get a Mandarin accent, which is what the zh-en page already does.

Is the voice really Cantonese?

Yes — a dialect engine, not a Mandarin voice faking it. The default voice supports Cantonese out of the box; set the TTS_SPEAKER_YUE variable to use a dedicated Cantonese voice.

What language are the definitions in?

Chinese. The screen shows the Cantonese sentence with English swaps plus Chinese definitions — Cantonese speakers are memorising the English words, not another layer of translation.

Can I write my own script?

Yes. Beyond AI topic writing, paste your own written Cantonese — the tool handles word-picking, voice and export.

What format does it export?

Vertical 1080×1440 MP4 (H.264 + AAC), ready to upload to TikTok, Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts.

Does it cost credits?

Yes. Writing, voicing and exporting all use credits, same as the zh-en and ja-en pages.

Can I use it if I don't speak Cantonese?

Yes. Type the topic in any language you're comfortable with — Mandarin, English, Japanese — and AI writes the script in written Cantonese, voiced in real Cantonese. You just pick the words to swap. To learn Cantonese itself, start with a beginner course.
